hi can anyone help me with my ford galaxy automatic 19tdi she struggle on hills the revs go really high and when she does go into the right gear she goes in really hard .also driven her on motorway lots of times but on 3 ocations she has lost power havent been able to go over 50mph and then fine she had a new gearbox fitted about 15months ago so cant really seing it be that hopefully hope someone can help thanks sarah

Hi Sarah and welcome,

my auto has done 88k now and just drove up Sutton bank in yorkshire 1 in 4 no probs with mine. Have you had checked the fluid level. These gearboxes are fairly intolerant of low fluid level. As you just had a new one fitted maybe they couldnt quite fill it properly or it has a minor leak ,I would think the level is the easiest place to start. Hope this helps

I find it better to put it into 3rd gear before approaching the hill then I find you have plenty of pull already to take you up the hill. I also find it struggles normally in drive maybe because ime not heavy on the gas.

could it be a MAF problem? you need to get engine/gearbox fault codes read. could be transmission fluid low but i would be surprised if it was this if you had a new auto box 15 months ago
